Fish Cakes, Potato Wedges and Baked Beans

Something similar to this Fish Cakes, Potato Wedges and Baked Beans was a staple weekday food when I was much younger. Still a useful meal to make after all the years have passed though.

The adventurous may want to make their own fish cakes from potatoes, fish and breadcrumbs. An easy but time consuming task. These ones were just bought frozen from a supermarket.

Fish Cakes, Potato Wedges and Baked Beans

How to make it

For this version, I used the oven because I can get everything in there to cook then leave until cooked through.

Basic steps are to put two fish cakes and a handful of potato wedges person onto a metal tray. A layer of oven foil on the tray will reduce the cleaning time after the meal but may be seen as wasteful.

About ⅓ of a 400g/14oz can of baked beans need to go into something that can go into the oven. Be sure to cover in order to avoid mess.

Fish cakes and chips at the top of an oven heated to 200°C/400°F/Gas 6. Baked beans on the next shelf down.

Cook for 30 minutes though you may want to flip the cakes and stir the wedges at the halfway mark.

Then simply take carefully from the oven and put onto plates to serve.

Salt and perhaps some brown sauce to finish.
